Downtown Container Park
Located in downtown Vegas which is in the stages of a revitalization is the Downtown Container Park. Here you can find everything you need to entertain your kids. From food, music, shops and a large play area located in the middle of the container park. I suggest coming here when the sun is about to set so you can stick around and see the massive fire breathing praying mantis. This place usually has events for children once a month during the afternoon that come with a small fee. Their Facebook page has the most up to date info for their events: https://www.facebook.com/downtowncontainerpark

Floyd Lamb Park
Pack your picnic basket or fishing poles and get ready to unwind from the hustle and bustle of the Vegas strip. This 680 acre park is an oasis in the Vegas valley desert. There is a fee to enter the park but you could spend most of your day here. There are ducks, geese, peacocks and rabbits roaming freely that we have fed on many occasions. Be careful! The geese can get aggressive so it’s best not to let your little ones too close. There are a few fishing ponds, picnic areas, bbqs and many walking paths.
Hours of operation:
Summer (April - September) 8am to 8pm
Winter (October - March) 9am to 5pm
Less than an hour drive for most in Vegas, Mt. Charleston is a great escape from your typical Vegas life and the heat. The temperature there is typically 20 to 30 degrees less than everywhere else in the valley. This is a great place to retreat to during the scorching summer months where the temp can reach above 100 degrees! Mt. Charleston offers hiking trails, campgrounds, picnic areas and scenic lookouts. During the winter months you can ski, snowboard and tube in Lee Canyon. In the summers you can ride the lift to see the view, hike and try your hand at frisbee golf.
Circus Circus Midway Show
What is Vegas without a good show? This was my first Vegas show that I saw as a kid if you count this as one, and well… I do! Even as an adult, I love to watch this show still, now just as a mom with my children. Located in the hotel and casino Circus Circus, this long running show makes you want to run away with the circus. You can see a trapeez act, acrobats and balancing acts and is completely free to watch. Get there early for seats because they do fill up fast. I’ve never been able to have a seated experience but there are a lot of places to view the show standing around the midway as well.
